Permit to Purchase or Transfer a Firearm
If you reside within the city limits of Braham, you will apply for the Permit to Purchase or Transfer a Firearm with the Braham Police Department. Residents with a Braham address but reside outside the city limits must apply at the Sheriff’s office within the county you reside.
- Be at least 21 years of age to purchase a hand gun and 18 years of age to purchase a military style assault rifle.
- Permit to Purchase applications can be submitted in person by the applicant. Applicants must present a current Minnesota driver’s license, state issued ID or Passport (or a legible colored photo copy). Applications can also be mailed and must include a current copy of a Minnesota driver’s license, state issued ID or Passport. Copies must be in color.
- Application approval may take up to seven days. If your application is approved, your card will be mailed directly to your home address. If you are denied, you will receive a letter stating why.
