Pie Capital and
Basketball Town host a summer parade August 6
East Central Minnesota--Come to Braham for a multi cultural
experience on Saturday, August 6, when the “Homemade Pie Capital of
Minnesota” will host a parade at 11 a.m. The multiple cultures we are
talking about are pie, basketball, hometown folks and Braham graduates
who are coming back for the All School Reunion and the Appreciation Day
Celebration. Braham is located one hour north of the Twin Cities on
Highway 107, just off Highway 65.
Sports fans will recollect that the Braham Boys’ Basketball team won the
Minnesota State Championship for the second year in a row in March, so
no doubt there will be some basketball excitement mixed in with all the
other activities at the parade.
There might even be a Swede or two or three, since the Orsa Youth Choir,
from Orsa, Sweden is in town to perform at the annual Pie Day
celebration the day before on August 5. Braham and Orsa are Sister
Cities.
The
parade begins at 11 a.m. at the Braham Area Schools. The route includes
Main Street and Freedom Park, where visitors can enjoy the craft show,
the children’s activities and musical performers “Roshan” and the “Os
Bond Conrad Spit Band.” There will also be a pie trivia contest at the
stage called “Pie in Sky or Pie in the Eye.”
For parade
registration information call Patricia at Aloha Minnesota Garden Center
at 320-396-2211 or send an e-mail to
